Some have said that Iqaluit is like a "little New York City" in reference to the number of cabs that are on the road at any given time.

Although it is great to have a vehicle of your own, for convenience, you certainly can get by without one because of the city's abundance of taxis. 

All taxis charge the same rate of $6.00 per adult per ride.  Children, when accompanying their parents, are FREE.

Newbie note: Unlike cabs down south, when you hail a cab you are not always the only passenger in it. Cabs will stop and pick up others along the way (again for $6.00 per person) So don't be alarmed if you have to share the back seat.....besides it's a great way to get to know more people!
